Corporate Overview: A Legacy of Crab Farming

At RBI Import and Export, we've made it our mission to cater to the escalating demand for Sri Lankan Mud Crabs in the Asian market. In 2010, we ventured into Sri Lanka, establishing our Mud Crab Hatchery in the picturesque town of Chilaw. This state-of-the-art facility spans an impressive 10,000 square meters, where we consistently produce a remarkable 500,000 instars of Scylla Serrata and Sri Lankan Mud Crabs each month.

Collaborating with NARA: A Game-Changer

Over the years, Sri Lanka has solely relied on wild catches for its crab supply, resulting in dwindling resources. Recognizing the need for sustainable practices, RBI Import and Export partnered with the National Aquatic Research Resources & Development Agency (NARA). This significant collaboration marked a turning point in the industry. Today, we proudly stand as the first and only NARA-approved crab hatchery in Sri Lanka. Our commitment to responsible aquaculture aligns perfectly with NARA's vision, ensuring that the delicate balance of aquatic ecosystems is preserved.

Aquafarm: Where Innovation Meets Sustainability

In 2014, we expanded our horizons by inaugurating our very own fish hatchery and Mud crab farms in Sri Lanka. Our fish hatchery, nestled in the heart of Chilaw, spans 10,000 square meters. Here, we produce an impressive 60,000 kilograms of diverse fish species annually, including golden pomfret, Chinese pomfret, red snappers, sea bass, and fish eggs. Venturing further into aquaculture, our Mud crab farms in Puttalam and Kalpitiya span a total of 215,000 square meters. This expansive space allows us to produce a staggering 180,000 kilograms of premium crabs each year. The primary breeds cultivated at our farms are the highly sought-after Scylla Serrata and the Sri Lankan Mud crabs.
